Your website gets visits but no customers? 10 levers to improve conversion

More traffic is useless if visitors leave without contacting you. Ten concrete levers to turn your website’s visits into enquiries and sales.

The conversion rate is the share of visitors who do what you expect of them: call, request a quote, book, buy. Doubling your conversion rate has the same effect as doubling your traffic, but it’s often much quicker and cheaper. Here are the ten levers we work on for our clients’ websites.

1. Say clearly what you do, and where

In three seconds, visitors must understand what you offer, who it’s for, and in what area. A heading like “Excellence at the service of your projects” says nothing. “Electrician in Marseille, call-out within 2 hours and compliance upgrades” says it all.

2. One goal per page

Each page must lead to one main action: book an appointment, request a quote, add to cart. Too much choice paralyses. Secondary links are useful, but the main action must dominate visually.

3. Visible buttons, especially on mobile

More than half of your visitors arrive on a phone. The number must be clickable, the contact button visible without scrolling, and ideally always accessible at the bottom of the screen.

4. Reassure with proof

  • Customer reviews visible near the action buttons. See how to get more Google reviews.
  • Projects with real photos, not stock images.
  • Figures: years of experience, number of customers, average lead times.
  • Labels and certifications: RGE, Qualibat, approvals, professional order.
  • Faces: the team, the manager, the workshop or the shop.

5. Give price indications

A complete absence of prices drives away some visitors, who imagine the worst. Without displaying a full price list, ranges or “from” prices qualify enquiries and reassure. Our article on the price of a website is an example.

6. Simplify forms

Every extra field loses contacts. Ask for the essentials: name, contact method, need. The details will come in the first conversation. Add a clear message after submission, and a response time: “We’ll call you back within 24 hours”.

7. Speed up the website

Every extra second of loading drives visitors away, especially on mobile. See our guide to Core Web Vitals.

8. Answer objections

What questions do your customers ask before signing? Timelines, guarantees, travel, payment, commitment. An FAQ on each service page removes the obstacles even before the first contact.

9. Offer several ways to get in touch

Some prefer to call, others to write, others to book directly. Phone, form, online appointment booking, WhatsApp: offer the channels you can genuinely keep up with.

10. Measure, then test

Track clicks on the phone number, form submissions, bookings and sales. Spot the pages that get traffic but don’t convert, change one element at a time (heading, button, proof, form) and compare. A CRM connected to the website even lets you track all the way to revenue.

Should you redo your website?

Not necessarily. Many of these levers apply to an existing website. But if your website is slow, hard to update or impossible to use on mobile, a redesign built for conversion will be more effective than successive fixes. We analyse these points for free during our audit.
