MY Sauna

MY Sauna: book a lakeside sauna in seconds

MY Sauna offers wood-fired saunas on the shores of Valais lakes, self-service and with no staff on site. The website therefore acts as the reception desk: we built the front end and back end, the booking system, the voucher and gift card shop and the presentation pages, with one obsession: display speed.

mysauna.ch
MY Sauna self-service saunas website — Valais, Switzerland

The context

A venue with no reception, a website that does everything

At MY Sauna, nobody waits for customers behind a counter. Visitors discover the venue, choose their slot, pay and receive their access code without ever speaking to anyone. Every step of the online journey therefore has to be crystal clear, reassuring and, above all, fast.

Most bookings are made on a smartphone, often at the last minute and sometimes on a mountain connection. A page that takes several seconds to load is a sauna left empty.

What we built

From discovery to the sauna door

Real-time booking

Up-to-date availability for every sauna and every slot, with no risk of double booking.

Payment & access code

Secure online payment, then an access code sent automatically by text message before the session.

Vouchers & gift cards

An online shop to give a session or an amount as a gift, which can then be used directly when booking.

Presentation pages

Each venue has its own page: atmosphere, photos, directions, how a session works and tips to make the most of the sauna.

Custom back office

The team manages slots, closures, bookings and vouchers from an interface designed for them.

Bilingual website

Content and booking journey available in two languages, for local customers and visitors alike.

Performance

Speed as the priority, thanks to Next.js

We chose Next.js to combine rendering modes as precisely as possible. The presentation pages are generated in advance (SSG): they’re served from a CDN and display almost instantly, even on an average mobile network.

The live parts, such as availability or the basket, are rendered server-side (SSR) at request time, so they always show the real state of the slots. Images optimised and resized automatically, lazy loading, JavaScript cut down to the bare minimum: every millisecond saved serves conversion.

On the SEO side, this server rendering delivers complete, fast pages to Google, which counts directly in the Core Web Vitals and therefore in rankings.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why Next.js for a booking website?+

Next.js lets you generate in advance the pages that rarely change (SSG) and render server-side those that must be up to the second (SSR). The result: very fast, well-ranked pages and availability that’s always accurate.

Can you sell gift cards on your booking website?+

Yes. At MY Sauna, vouchers and gift cards are sold on the same website and can be used directly when booking, with no third-party tool or manual entry.

Can a venue with no staff run on a website alone?+

That’s the whole point of the project: booking, payment, sending the access code and practical information are automated. The website takes on the role of reception.
